Halton Borough Council, Cheshire Police and partners have installed a mobile CCTV unit covering Halton Lea, Trident Retail Park and Asda Car Park, West Lane, in a bid to combat anti-social behaviour in the area.

It is hoped the camera, which is being monitored by Halton Borough Council (see picture) will help identify perpetrators and problems and will allow the safe use of the retail parks for members of the public.

It is part of a Halton Safer Partnership campaign involving working closely with partner agencies and local businesses to help combat anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the Runcorn Area.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Community Safety, Cllr Dave Cargill, said: “We are working closely with partner agencies and local businesses to try to alleviate the problems with anti-social behaviour.

“The majority of young people are well behaved but we ask that parents support us in our fight against ASB and they help to reinforce the messages that causing alarm, distress or harassment to other person (s) or businesses will not be tolerated.

” Zero tolerance will apply to the Halton Lea, Trident, ASDA and McDonads area.”

Chief Inspector Sarah Heath, of Cheshire Police, said: “Neighbourhood and Response Officers have been working to identify problems with dispersal powers used to remove offenders.

“Also, Police and local housing providers will be sharing information and details regarding those persons responsible for ASB and tenancy conditions will be used for persistent offenders.

” Anyone causing ASB will be banned from the area, could face legal action via a civil Injunction and their parents tenancy could be placed at risk. Anti-Social Behaviour will not be tolerated from ANYONE in the Runcorn area, or anywhere in Halton.”

Police officers will be going into schools this week to help reinforce the message.
