Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists will perform at Halton Borough Council and partners’ annual event celebrating diversity in Halton, which takes place on Thursday 26 October, it has been revealed.

Stemming from an idea from Halton Youth Cabinet, Halton Against Hate is now in its second year. And organisers have announced MD Productions will perform in the town centre.

MD Productions is  three times semi-finalists on Britain’s Got Talent and has even been the closing entertainment at the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2016, The dancers have also been the entertainment on ‘Strictly’, Members have danced for Pink and Katy Perry.

The group has built up a well-respected professional repertoire in the entertainment industry as well as being well known in the Liverpool city region for community based project “Blank Canvas”.

The event seeks to celebrate equality as well as draw attention to hate crime and hate crime reporting. It will take place at Green Oaks Shopping Centre, (Outside Morrisons) Widnes on Thursday 26 October 2017, 11am to 3pm and will see music, dance and performance alongside a range of speakers drawing attention to the issues of the day.

It will also see stalls from a wide variety of organisations including Hope Not Hate, Cheshire Police, Cheshire Fire and Rescue, GLOW LGBT+ Youth group, Halton Speak Out, Unison and many more.

HAH has been supported by Halton Borough Council and Unison and a wide range of groups across Halton and beyond, have contributed to the planning and delivery of the day.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Children, Young People and Families, Cllr Tom McInerney, said: “It would be brilliant if you could find some time on the day to pop down to Green Oaks help send a message that there’s no home for hate in Halton.”

Halton Unisons, Paula Barker, said: “UNISON is delighted to be supporting this year’s HALTON against Hate. We have seen hate crimes rise in our towns and cities and it is incumbent upon us all to challenge these situations.

“The fact that this initiative is being driven by young people is wonderful and extremely progressive.”

The event will demonstrate the positive work that can be achieved when partner agencies come together. The Trades Union movement can be a force for social change and we welcome the opportunity to be involved and to say proudly that the actions of hate will not be tolerated and will always be overcome by hope
