Creative Connections 2,  a special programme of arts by Halton’s primary schools  is coming to The Brindley  from 14 January to 18 February.

This exhibition is the culmination activity in a special programme for Halton primary schools developed in partnership with the Mersey Gateway Project.

Construction consortium Merseylink worked with Halton Borough Council and the Accent Music Education Hub to support Creative Connections, a programme of artists in residence working across the arts on three themes linked to the construction of the new Mersey crossing:  Halton’s natural environment, design and construction related to bridge building, and local history.

Led by Halton Borough Council, and developed in consultation with artists and teachers, this work has involved 19 primary schools in Halton, and aimed to get pupils thinking imaginatively about Halton’s new bridge and road project.

Six local primary schools; Bridgewater Park Primary School, Brookfields School, Gorsewood Primary School, St Bede’s Catholic Infant School, St Edward’s Catholic Primary School and The Brow Community Primary School have worked with artists Kate Bufton, Jojo Gleave, Handstand Films, One Red Shoe and Angela Sidwell, between them exploring all the themes and creating new work in in film, relief panels, sculpture, willow and book art.

The programme was supported by Accent Music Education Hub, the Arts & Cultural Education Commission and Merseylink, which is provided funding to subsidise the costs of schools’ participation.

Admission to the Brindley Gallery is free and it is open weekdays 10am – 5pm, Saturdays 10am – 3pm, closed Sundays and Bank Holidays.
