A café in a Runcorn community centre has been taken over by a former employee, who has self-funding a renovation, revamp and launch.
Mandi McDonald is opening “Macy’s” at Grangeway Community Centre, on Monday 29 January. The café will aim to offer the public, eat in and take-away food, cooked on the premises and provide good quality, nutritious meals at a great price.
Development for the future will include lots of community projects, to be announced. These will involve working with people in the area, and focusing on minority groups.
The former Sure Start To Later Life Officer said: “I want to work for myself, and put my skills and experience, into giving something back to our community. My aim is to provide a warm and friendly environment, which will become a welcoming, safe haven, bringing people together.
“We have two part-time staff members initially, and I hope we will have lots more job opportunities in the future.”
