Halton Borough Council is  organising a Christmas Party on Sunday 11 December at Grangeway Community Centre for Sure Start To Later Life clients,  and needs tinned goods and food items to make hampers for raffle prizes.

Organisers expect about 150 people and are aiming to give everyone a Christmas card and present again.

They are collecting unwanted gifts, alcohol, tinned biscuits and chocolates, and anything else, which may be suitable to be given as a gift.

The team works with older, often vulnerable, lonely and isolated people, living within our community, and for some, this Christmas Party will be the only time during the festive season they will have the opportunity to have some company, and a chance to enjoy getting out and meeting people.

With this in mind, the Sure Start to Later Life staff is going all out to make this a special event.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Heath and Wellbeing, Cllr Marie Wright, said: “We have been were truly overwhelmed with the response we received previous years from council staff and local business large and small.

” People’s generosity, during these difficult financial times, is remarkable and with your help, we aim to make this year even better. “

If you are able to make a contribution and would like to donate to a good cause, could you please drop any items off at Grangeway Community Centre. We can even collect if necessary.

If you have any queries please contact one of the team on 01928 569498.
