A Halton School has won a prize for participation and behaviour at the recent ‘Crucial Crew’ event, organised by Halton Borough Council’s Road Safety Team at the Select Security Stadium.

Year five pupils from St Marys Primary School Runcorn were presented with the Crucial Crew Shield and a rugby ball signed by the Widnes Vikings, plus two sports sessions from Halton Borough Council’s Sports Development Team.

Halton Borough Council Road Safety Officer, Michelle Simpson, said: “This is a fantastic achievement – to come first out of 48 schools.

“The children’s behaviour was exemplary and they stood out from the 1,500 pupils that attended the event. ”

The annual event provided eight scenarios presented by partners from Cheshire Fire, Cheshire Police, Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust, Children’s Safeguarding Board, Scottish Power and Health Improvement Team.

Important messages were on cyber safety, road safety, healthy eating, fire safety in the bedroom, electrical safety and home safety and first aid. These messages were delivered in a fun way after the children carried out exercises around the I-pitch.
