Halton Borough Council’s Trading Standards is warning consumers of a scam DVLA email currently circulating. The email is a ‘phishing ’email, trying to extract consumer’s personal information, bank details and passwords.
A close examination of the email shows it has not come from the DVLA, but in fact an email address ending in telenet.be.
In addition, the email does not address the consumer by name (this is because the scammers don’t know the consumer name), so they just repeatedly use the email address instead
Finally, the threat at the bottom of the email sates they may suspend your DVLA account. All the above are classic signs of a scam.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Trading Standards, Cllr Dave Cargill, said: ” If you receive this message just delete it and do not to forward it to anyone.”
