A generous food wholesaler has donated a large supply of soup to Halton’s social supermarket.

Trevors Foodservice, one of Halton Borough Council’s suppliers, contacted the Council to offer the donation to help people in the community.

Community Shop were delighted to receive the crates of Baxter’s soups which they will sell in the Runcorn store and offset reductions in prices to reflect the donation.

The shop, at Priory House, next to Runcorn Shopping City, provides high-quality, low-cost food and household products to members who live locally and receive welfare support. Goods in the store retail at 70% less than Recommended Retail Price.

Cllr Ron Hignett, the Council’s portfolio holder, for physical environment, says: “On behalf of the Council and Community Shop I’d like to thank Trevors for their generous donation. Community Shop plays an important role in the borough and the goods are gratefully received. This is an excellent example of the kindness we have been seeing throughout the pandemic.”

Samuel Jenkinson, Senior Business Development Manager at Trevors, said: “We are pleased to see that the donation will help those people in the community who need it.”
