The next phase of improvements at Town Park in Runcorn are due to start later this month, the Council has announced.

This third phase of improvements will take place in the area of Town Park between Holt Lane and Palace Fields. This popular area of Town Park links neighbouring residential areas with Shopping City, Halton Hospital and other facilities located in Runcorn New Town.

The improvements to the park include:

  • A new lit central path for walking and cycling which will link the existing path network with the main park entrance off Holt Lane.
  • The upgrade of existing paths to a consistent width suitable for all park users.
  • The creation of a new informal recreational path as alternative route for park users with seating located at regular intervals.
  • Improved feature entrances into Town Park from Main Street, Holt Lane and Stockham Lane.
  • The installation of new street furniture, including two new picnic areas and new seating along footpath routes.
  • Improvements to signage and wayfinding including new entrance signage, fingerposts and interpretation of the New Town landscape heritage.

Alternative routes through the park will be provided as each section of path are being improved.

Once complete, the new and enhanced park features will provide improved facilities for leisure and recreation, encouraging park users to extend their stay and explore further into Town Park.
