The Brow Community Primary School in Runcorn has been named an IQM Centre of Excellence – the first in a targeted group of Halton schools to achieve the award.
The school was awarded the status due to its commitment to inclusion and support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The Brow has grown a reputation for providing an exemplary education and holds inclusion at the heart of its principles. This has seen a growing number of students with increasingly complex SEN, children in foster care and special guardianship families join the school.
Mike Stapleton-Chambers, School and Settings Improvement Officer for Halton Borough Council, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to see the Brow receive this recognition. I held talks with IQM last autumn to create framework that could help support, celebrate, and grow the borough’s inclusive excellence so it is fantastic to see it start to produce results.”
Cllr Tom McInerney, Executive Board Member for Children and Young People for Halton Borough Council, added: “Through the Delivering Better Value in SEND funding, Halton has been able to support resource provisions in achieving the IQM Centre of Excellence mark—recognising our commitment to inclusive practice. This is just the start and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
