Halton will come alive with the sound of celebration on 3, 4 and 5 September as Borough of Culture launches Celebrate Halton MUSIC.
Celebrate Halton MUSIC is a festival of local talent as well as an opportunity to bring some of the best wide-reaching audio artists from around the North West and elsewhere to Halton – the home of some of the iconic musical moments of all time!
The festival reflects the support and commitment our pubs and venues make all year round to providing entertainment and opportunities for acts to develop and share their talents. After a year and a half of cancellations, postponements and streaming only, live music gets its moment in the spotlight once again.
ArtReach, the organisation tasked with shaping the Borough of Culture for Halton Borough Council, alongside organisations and residents, have been working with LOOSE Project Manager, Louise Nulty, (based at the Studio) and music programmer, Sashwati Mira Sengupta, to curate the festival weekend line-up.
“The acts will be announced in weeks to come but, for now, we are excited to reveal the venues where you will be able to bathe in the glorious melodic tones of a wide range of musical genres,” says Louise.
Venues confirmed are two of our parks – Victoria Park and Runcorn Hill, Culture HQ in the Shopping City, six pubs – Society Tap Room, The Castle, Norton Arms, The Lockdown Pub in Runcorn and The Tavern and The Mersey Hotel (The Snig) in Widnes, The Studio in Lacey Street and Widnes Outdoor Market.
Artists will be announced in August.
Louise added: “Thanks to all the venues and local artists who contacted us through the consultation, including Liverpool’s Sound City and North-West Based Softlad Promotions.
“Together we aim to create a weekend of local favourites, opportunities for new artists and established talent with something for everyone, ranging from free for family audiences to tickets events for connoisseurs, and perhaps a few unexpected moments of musical harmony in Halton!”
