They say everyone has a book in them. And Halton Borough Council is hoping to spark your inner author, or just find a little more out about their favourite writers.
Halton Lea Library is hosting its first ‘Talking Authors’ event on Wednesday 20th March, 6pm-7.30pm. Three critically-acclaimed authors, S.E.Lynes, Martine McDonagh and Naomi Kruger, will be speaking about their books and their own personal journeys to becoming writers.
Perhaps you will get inspiration to be the next J.K Rowling or Stephen King.
Runcorn-born S.E.Lynes, who now lives in London, is the author of ‘intelligent and haunting’ psychological thrillers Valentina, Mother, The Pact and The Proposal. Martine McDonagh’s latest book, Narcissism for Beginners, was shortlisted for the 2018 People’s Book Prize and the 2017 The Guardian’s Not The Booker Prize and Naomi Kruger, a Lecturer in Literature and Creative Writing, has been published in various literary journals and her debut novel, May, is set in Preston and deals with Dementia.
On the evening, audience members will get the chance to ask the panel of authors questions and to hear their inspiring stories. Runcorn’s Curiosity Bookshop will also be there selling each author’s books.
Alison Hoolihan, from Halton Libraries, said: “We’re really looking forward to hosting an evening with three successful authors. To be able to hear their fascinating personal stories and ask them questions is a great opportunity.
” In particular, it will be amazing to hear about S.E.Lynes’ personal journey from being born and raised in Runcorn, attending The Heath School, to now being an acclaimed author of four novels.”
Tickets for the evening are £4 or £3 for library members and can be booked online via the library website or in person at any Halton library.
