Bagpipes, whistles and an accordion in a rock band? It actually works really well when they are in the hands of Scottish legends Skerryvore.

Skerryvore brings a fusion of rock, pop and traditional music to Halton Borough Council’s Brindley Theatre, Runcorn on Sunday 24 September.

The band entered 2017 having, once again, been recognised as the ‘Live Act of the Year 2016’ at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards, an award they previously won in 2011.

Tiree brothers Daniel Gillespie (accordion) and Martin Gillespie (whistles & accordion), Fraser West (drums & vocals), Alec Dalglish (lead vocals & guitar), Craig Espie (fiddles), Alan Scobie (keyboards) and Jodie Bremaneson (bass) and recent addition Scott Wood (bagpipes) – tour extensively, not only throughout Scotland and the Rest of the UK, but also worldwide.

The 2015 ‘Decade World Tour’ was launched with a sell-out 6000 capacity concert at Mossfield Stadium, Oban and then took in Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark and USA, as well as UK gigs stretching from Shetland to the South of England.

Skerryvore returned to USA in August 2016 for a seven week, coast to coast tour – their longest yet!

Members recently entertained at the packed opening ceremony of the Westfield Health British Transplant Games in North Lanarkshire.

All members bring their own musical style to the Skerryvore mix. The more they have experimented with this mix, the more the band and their signature sound has evolved. This is evident in the progression across the 6 albums released since 2005.
