Halton Trading Standard has recently seen an increase of grant scam emails, and is warning people to be vigilant.

It is he latest in a number of Covid-19 themed scams, circulating around Halton.

These emails suggest that you have been selected to receive a grant, there is no cost to receiving the grant they just need you to complete a form with your personal details.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Trading Standards, Cllr Dave Cargill, said: “This is a scam, they are after your personal details. Below is the wording from one of these scam emails…”

We screen your profile and see that you qualify based on your income
level to receive grant that you do not need to repay. A group of donors
sponsor the grant to help people and businesses during this Covid-19.

If you are interested, contact us to fill out the grant form. We have
been paid to screen and process the grant, no fee is required from you
or information which could lead to financial loss or identity theft.
