Halton Borough Council has issued a warning after being made aware of rogue traders operating in the area in the past few days.
They are offering to carry out work on consumer’s driveways, in particular sealing concrete driveways.
The traders are reported to have tried to start the job before the consumers have agreed to have any work carried out.
Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Trading Standards, Cllr Dave Cargill, said: “Our advice is never to deal with cold callers.
“If you do need work carrying out, try to get written quotes from at least three different contractors before you decide on one. “
If you think you have been caught out by a rogue trader, please contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline who will forward your details to Trading Standards.
