Are you female and unsure where to get information on women’s health and sport opportunities? We are inviting you to come and have a chat with us at an event at The Select Security Stadium, Widnes. We hope to use the feedback to improve life expectancy.
Halton Borough Council launched a campaign to find out what would get more girls and women involved in sport, after the World Health Organisations advised partners focus on this group to improve its wellbeing.
Officers are hosting the ‘Girls and Women’s Health’ event on Tuesday 24 January – 1.30pm to 4.30pm, where people can get health advice and information about services in Halton
The event will have information stands and interactive areas for attendees to feedback their views and need under the theme Start Well, Live Well and Age Well. Findings will support ongoing strategic development and commissioning plans.
Discussion areas will include Child & Maternal Health, Mental Health, Cancer, Lifestyles and Sexual Health.
Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Health and Wellbeing, Cllr Marie Wright, said: “We are inviting as many girls and women who are free to come along, give us their opinions, and find out what ourselves and our partners can offer them.”
Since September 2016, there has been a review of public health intelligence, consultation via local radio, social media and one-to-one or group discussions.
Speakers at the event include Eileen OMeara (Director of Public Health) and Irene Bramwell (Healthwatch and Women of Windmill Hill)
Eileen said: “Females living in Halton would be expected to live in good health for more than 60 years, and live to be more than 80. But we want to work to increase both these numbers. This event is part of that project.”
