Could you help older people in Runcorn area live a healthier, happier life?
Halton Borough Council’s Sure Start to Later Life offers a free information and signposting service to the over 55’s in Halton.
Officers work with those who are affected by social isolation and loneliness for various reasons. One aspect of the team is its volunteering service.
The volunteering team at Sure Start to Later Life has been going from strength to strength and currently has volunteers from different walks of life, supporting people all over Halton, however, there is a shortage of volunteers to support people in the Runcorn area.
Volunteering can be a fun and rewarding experience for both the volunteer and the person receiving support from them.
Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Members for Health and Wellbeing, Cllr Marie Wright, said: “All volunteers go through a full induction with support from the team, including a DBS check and references before they are ready to ‘go solo ‘.
“There are selection of roles for you to choose from, like visiting someone in their own home for a chat and cuppa to taking a person out and about. “
So if you would like to become a volunteer or are aware of someone who would benefit from having a volunteer support them, then please contact the team on 01928 569498 to discuss further.
