Big-hearted ‘spokes’ people from Halton Borough Council are donning their lycra and organising a charity cycle event is to be held at Kingsway Leisure Centre on Friday 20 September.
It is hoped that between all the cycle participants, mostly staff and users from Adult Services, will be ‘in the frame’ to do 300 miles to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and will be peddle-pushing for support from the public!
It is hoped to raised the (handle)bar this year, improving on the £800 raised last year for a sensory garden. And they need more people to help.
Organiser Phill Burrows, said: “The Friday Kingsway Group of adults with additional needs is looking for anyone to support this event by having a cycle or just turning up and cheering them on. They can donate in our buckets on the day.”
Please ask the members in your group, friends and family to see if they would like have a go.
If you are are coming to join it is important you ring me or email phill.burrows@halton.gov.uk so as I can allocate people time slots to avoid queuing for bikes. Or call him on 07597305801
Last year they cycled the 309Km is the distance of Wainwrights Coast to Coast walk across England from the west coast at St Bees in the Lake District to the east coast at Robin Hoods Bay in Yorkshire.
