Halton’s ‘Time to Change’ hub is looking for local people with experience of mental health problems who want to help tackle mental health stigma and discrimination.

Time to Change is a national campaign run by charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness who set up a network of regional ‘hubs’ to focus on local campaigning.

The hubs are made up of local organisations and individuals committed to ending negative attitudes and behaviours towards people experiencing mental health problems in their communities.

Time to Change Halton includes representatives from Halton Borough Council, Mind Halton, Riverside College, Young Addaction, Halton Chamber of Commerce, Halton Housing, and Shopping City Runcorn.

The Halton hub is recruiting Champions who will use their own experience of mental health problems to change the way people think and act about mental health.

Time to Change Champions can attend free training sessions on speaking out and campaigning, there are various resources and tips to help you change the way we all think about mental health, access to Time to Change e-learning, and support in running long-term anti-stigma work in your community.

One established Champion says: “My Champion journey has been an amazing one and it has been incredibly cathartic. I have grown in confidence with each activity we hold.”
