Young people on Halton Borough Council’s Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme collected their Gold Awards at a special garden party at Buckingham Palace, where they got their awards from the D of E himself.

It was a momentous day which was also attended by lots of celebrities including Bill Bailey, Ross Kemp, DJ Melvin Odoom and Olympic Long Jump champion Greg Rutherford who shared the celebrations with the young people and their families.

More than 1,500 young people in all attended the event which was the Duke of Edinburgh’s last official engagement at the D of E awards,

Prince Edward the Duke of Wessex will be taking over the mantle but Prince Phillip will remain chief patron of the awards..

The Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme is open to all young people in Halton aged between 14 -25-years-old. The D of E team is currently recruiting for all levels of the award.
