Ever wondered what it’s like to own an electric car? Well, here’s your chance to drive one free of charge for a month.

Halton Borough Council has installed on-street electric vehicle (EV) charging points in a number of areas in the borough. Connected Kerb, suppliers of the charge points, are offering local residents the opportunity to trial a Renault Zoe ZE50 for a month, in conjunction with electric car subscription company, elmo.

All you have to do is register your interest at https://www.connectedkerb.com/evtrial/  You must meet the criteria stated on the website. The trial is due to start on February 22.

To support EV ownership and help improve air quality, the Council was awarded funding earlier this year to install the charging bays in the following areas: Halton Road, Wellington Street, Albert Road North, Appleton Village and Routledge Street.

They are in areas where there is a shortage of off-street parking, so that people without driveways will have the opportunity to consider switching to an electric car.

The sites offer capacity for more charging bays in the future and the opportunity in the longer term for air quality monitoring and Wi-Fi benefits, including for those who do not currently own an EV.

Any member of the public can use the charge points via the Connected Kerb phone application and contactless payment.
