Halton People into Jobs had a visit from Runcorn & Helsby MP Mike Amesbury who went along to the Church Street office to find out more about the service.
The aim for us was to raise the profile of the services so that he can signpost any constituents looking for work
The Council service helps local residents address barriers to employment i.e. debt/money advice, health improvement, training, skills for life. Advisors/Key Workers also help participants access support through a network of expert specialist organisations. The aim of the visit for HPIJ was to raise the profile of the services so that Mr Amesbury can signpost any constituents looking for work.
During the visit, Welfare to Work and Health Manager Lynsey Carr discussed with him the background to HPIJ, the funding they have to support local residents and funding for local employers.
The MP spoke to staff about the various services and programmes on offer to local people, and to customers who were on site accessing services at the time (some of whom had recently been made redundant).
Mr Amesbury said: “It was a delight to meet Lynsey and team on my recent visit to Halton People into Jobs in Runcorn Old Town. Speaking as a former careers’ adviser, it was evident how genuinely passionate everyone is about helping local residents (young and not so young) into work, self-employment, and training.
“My positive impression was confirmed in the feedback I subsequently received on my Facebook page from service users whose comments about staff and the service included compliments such as ‘brilliant’ and ‘amazing’.”
