Halton Borough Council staff have been working hard to make sure that parks, play areas, and recreation spaces are ready for the lighter nights and outdoor recreation time, as lockdown eased.
Despite the restrictions, staff have been toiling during the winter and early spring in our parks and green spaces, getting things ready for the spring and summer.
Spring favourites such as road side daffodils and formal planting in the Borough’s parks are now in bloom. Visitors may have noticed that there have been many new additions to the landscape too, with over 1800 trees being planted by Open Spaces staff between January to March.
Bowling greens and tennis courts are now open for use and look in great condition despite the cold snap we have just had.
Our children’s play areas are always popular. They get inspected regularly to ensure that all the equipment is ready for play.
Some items have been repaired recently and play surfaces have also had a spring clean.
The Council remains committed to its public parks and open spaces and have continued to invest in them.
New paths, park furniture, play equipment and landscape improvements have all been undertaken in the last 12 months at sites throughout the Borough.
Parks Manager, Paul Boardman, said “The demand on public open space has been incredible over the last year; I can’t remember a period where our parks have been so consistently busy. Although it has been great to see people enjoying what we have to offer, it has also been challenging for our staff.
“They have been working hard to ensure our open spaces are ready for all to enjoy. Please help them by taking your litter home and enjoying our sites responsibly.”
