Who needs Creamfields? Halton Borough Council held a children’s festival in Victoria Park on Wednesday with everything from circus skills, a Samba bands arts, craft and a chill-out ‘camping’ area for babies.
And according to attendees, it was a resounding success!
‘Widnes Festival Fun’ was organised by Widnes children’s centres for families, friends and local residents, with hundreds attending.
The festival themed event saw performances from The Studio Samba Band, The Studio Choir and Palacefields Ukulele Group as well as festival inspired arts and crafts.
There was also a baby camping area, soft play provided by Avabounce, Skylight Circus Skills, Diddikicks Football, and lots of information stands from partner agencies, including Parents in Mind NCT, Child Bereavement UK, Communicate and Halton’s Health improvement Team.
Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Chldren, Young People and Families, Cllr Tom McInerney, said: “The feedback from families and agencies in attendance was brilliant.
“They loved the range of activities and it is the first event we have done at Widnes Children’s Centres that we have had live music and everyone commented how it added to the atmosphere of the event.”
It is hoped to repeat the event next year.
