Halton Borough Council’s Day Services recently held a successful Christmas themed fundraising event at their Independent Living Centre (ILC).

The money raised will go towards replacing the garden group’s shed that is no longer serviceable due to the roof condition.

Thanks to the efforts of the Christmas fayre, which included handmade crafts, homemade cakes as well as stalls such as pick a duck and a raffle, around £250 was raised on the day, with more fundraising to come in the new year.

Cllr Angela Ball, Executive Board Member for Adult Social Care, said: “Today was such a wonderful day to be a part of, especially getting to see the children with Santa Claus. It is always a pleasure to visit the Independent Living Centre and be a part of their fundraising efforts. So much has been achieved recently at the ILC and I have no doubt this will be another success story.”

Children from Weston Point Primary School Nursery also attended the event and were greeted by the surprise visit of Santa Claus. The ILC summer house was converted into a grotto with the children able to post a letter to him, receiving a gift on the day.

The pupils were present as part of a scheme to help young children gain a greater understanding of disabilities and different needs and help the service to create wider links with the community.
