It’s Love Parks Week and three Halton Borough Council parks have raised the coveted Green Flag after achieving the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.

Hale Park, Runcorn Hill Park and Victoria Park have again been officially recognised as being among the country’s best open spaces.

They are some of the 2,250 parks in the UK to achieve the award in the scheme run by Keep Britain Tidy.

The news that the three sites have met the standards required for the accreditation is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team that care for the borough’s green space so that visitors and residents alike can enjoy it.

Cllr Paul Nolan, the Council’s portfolio holder for Environment and Urban Renewal, says: “The Council is delighted that our Victoria, Runcorn Hill and Hale Parks have received the Green Flag Award for 2025.

“This award is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our staff, who tirelessly work to keep these vital green spaces in a fantastic condition, enabling residents and visitors to our borough to enjoy these vital oases.”

Green Flag Award Scheme Manager, Paul Todd MBE, said: “Congratulations to everyone involved in Victoria Park, Runcorn Hill Park, and Hale Park who have worked tirelessly to ensure that they achieve the high standards required for the Green Flag Award.

“Quality parks and green spaces like these make the country a heathier place to live and work in, and a stronger place in which to invest. Crucially, they are vital green spaces for communities in Halton to enjoy nature, and during the ongoing cost of living crisis they are free and safe spaces for families to socialise. “
