Limited number of vans and large trailers to be allowed at Halton’s House Waste Recycling Centres
From 13 July, a limited number of vans and large trailers will be allowed at Halton’s Household Waste Recycling Centres – but only for disposal of household waste and only if an advance booking is made.
Under current arrangements, vans and large trailers are prohibited from using the Council’s centres at Johnsons Lane, Widnes, and Picow Farm Road, Runcorn, but, from Monday 13 July, a limited number will be able to use the sites each day.
Visits are strictly via a pre-arranged booking – if residents arrive without a booking, they will be turned away.
Bookings can be made by calling Halton Borough Council on 0303 333 4300 (Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm).
Bookings will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and once the total number of permitted vans or large trailers per day has been reached for a particular site, then no more bookings for that day will be taken – residents will need to choose an alternative day that has availability.
There will be no need to book a specific time slot. Once the date of a booking has been confirmed, vehicle registration details will be provided to site attendants so residents can turn up at any time on their allotted day. Even with a booking residents will still need to join the queue to enter.
When making a booking, callers will be asked for details to confirm that they are a Halton resident.
Visits in a van or with a large trailer will be strictly limited to one vehicle/household per week.
Drivers in hired vehicles may be asked to produce their hire documentation.
Only household waste can be deposited at the centres. Vehicles may be inspected and turned away if they are suspected of carrying commercial waste.
