Halton Borough Council has congratulated GCSE students on their excellent achievements in this year’s exams.
Since 2023, Halton has been identified as a Priority Education Investment Area, with a focus on reducing the gap to national outcomes for children and young people by the end of Key Stages 2 and Key Stage 4.
The latest GCSE results show further improvement, with 69% of students achieving grades 4-9 in English, narrowing the gap to national to 2.5%.
In Maths, 61% achieved grades 4-9, slightly down on the previous year, but broadly in line with pre-pandemic results.
At Key Stage 2, outcomes continue to improve year-on-year, with a higher proportion of students achieving the expected standard in all subject areas, and the gap to national average either narrowing or closing entirely.
The Council’s Acting Director of Education, Benjamin Holmes, shared a message with all of Halton’s students: “Congratulations to each and every student on their GCSE results . The achievements reflect a culmination of many years of hard work and dedication from every student, not to mention their families and carers, teachers and schools. We wish everyone the very best of luck as they now prepare to embark on their next chapter, wherever this might take them.”
