Halton-based textile recycler Roberts Recycling Ltd has been officially presented with its third King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade at a ceremony held at its Halebank headquarters.
The award was formally presented by Lady Alexis Redmond MBE, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, who was joined by Sir Phil Redmond CBE, Cllr Martha Lloyd Jones, Mayor of Halton, and Peter Lloyd Jones, Consort to the Mayor.
Co-Director Simon Roberts reflected on the significance of the award during the presentation.
“This isn’t just work for us. It’s something we care deeply about. Being able to tackle fashion waste, support our charity partners and help inspire the next generation is a privilege we don’t take for granted.”
The ceremony marks a major milestone in the company’s fifteenth year, recognising Roberts Recycling’s sustained international growth and its commitment to responsible textile recycling.
The company operates state-of-the-art processing facilities in Cheshire and Cardiff, collecting, sorting and exporting millions of clothing items each year. Its reuse-first approach ensures textiles are diverted from landfill and responsibly directed to trusted international partners for reuse or recycling.
Among the additional guests were Cllr Mike Wharton, Leader of Halton Borough Council and Deputy Mayor of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, Ward councillor Cllr Eddie Dourley, and Wesley Rourke, Executive Director for Environment and Regeneration at Halton Council.
Receiving the King’s Award allows organisations to fly the official flag for five years, use the emblem across branding and communications, and attend a Royal Reception.
Simon added: “We’re incredibly proud to receive this honour for the third time. It reflects the dedication of our team, the trust of our charity and brand partners, and the support of customers worldwide. As we celebrate fifteen years in business, it still feels like we’re just getting started.”
