Residents are being asked to complete a household survey to help shape the future of housing in Halton.
Halton Borough Council has started work on drafting a new Housing Strategy to set out policies to improve the choice, quality and affordability of the local housing offer, with the first stage of this process being a survey of Halton’s residents.
Speaking about the launch of household housing needs survey, Cllr Phil Harris, Halton Borough Council’s Lead on Housing Strategy, said:
“Supporting residents to live in decent and affordable homes, surrounded by safe and thriving communities is one of the Council’s top priorities.
“The survey covers a wide range of topics to explore the need and demand for different types and sizes of homes within different parts of Halton. So, we are keen to hear from as many households as possible, as a draft strategy is being prepared for consultation in 2025.
“Our population is also ageing, so we need to understand requirements for properties with adaptations and level access and future demand for supported accommodation. It’s vital residents are able to access housing that meets their needs, throughout their life.”
Arc4, a specialist independent housing research and policy consultancy have been appointed by the Council to undertake the survey.
A random sample of 16,000 addresses within the borough have been sent a letter by the Council inviting households to complete the survey online or over the phone. The survey is voluntary and anonymous.
Residents who do not receive a letter can still take part in the survey – in fact, any household in Halton can complete the survey once. The Council would like to hear from as many residents as possible.
You can complete the survey by typing into your browser haltonhns2024.co.uk (please DO NOT type www. or http://)
It will only take about 15 minutes to complete.
