Hough Green and Ditton to get £20 million as part of a new government fund – and local people can decide how to spend it!

Hough Green Councillor Phil Harris has welcomed the news that the Government has announced a £20 million investment fund for areas in Hough Green and Ditton and a further £1.5 million for Widnes Town Centre.

Local MP Derek Twigg successfully secured the funding for Hough Green and Ditton through the government’s Pride in Place Programme.

The funding will deliver circa £2 million every year for the next ten years, supporting local jobs, community facilities, green spaces, and measures to make the area safer and stronger.

Arrangements for community consultation are already being prepared and a local Neighbourhood Board will be established to bring together Hough Green and Ditton residents, Derek Twigg MP, local Councillors, Halton Borough Council, businesses and community organisations to produce a clear vision for their area.

As a member of the newly established Widnes Town Centre Board Cllr Andrea Wall has also welcomed the additional £1.5 million in surge capital funding for Widnes Town Centre.

Cllr Harris and Cllr Wall added “We are delighted that as a result of the hard work of our local MP we have been able to secure this funding for Widnes Town Centre and Hough Green and Ditton residents.

“We would urge local residents to share their views on the online residents’ survey that Derek Twigg MP has set up so they can start to help shape how the money is invested.’’

‘’This is a unique opportunity for our communities to bring about change and have a say at a local level on what matters most to them.’’
