It’s National Care Leavers week 28 – 3 November 2024 and we’re making sure that our young people are taking part in a range of fun filled sessions, activities and events across Cheshire to mark the occasion.
This week is all about celebrating our Care Leavers by recognising them and their care experience. This year’s theme is “All of Us. We are One.” Which highlights the value of creating connections and building a stronger community.
Jamie Pope, Head of Service for Children in Care, Care Leavers & Fostering in Halton reminds us that “Care Leavers are supported and encouraged to achieve their full potential long after they leave our care, we ensure that our young people are offered appropriate help with their education, training or employment, housing and overall wellbeing. We make sure that our Care Leavers are equipped and prepared to live independently. We’re so pleased to be taking part in National Care Leavers Week here in Halton and are very proud of our young people in care and leaving care”.
Organised by the Care Leavers Covenant, the week is designed to show our care leavers that we support and recognise them, so throughout National Care Leavers Week, our young people have been invited to take part in a Parents Social Quiz, Theatrical Play, Halloween Party, Go Karting, Wellbeing Walk, Celebration Event, and a Young Persons Influencing Event.
In addition to the many events taking place, look out Wednesday 30 October evening for the Mersey Gateway Bridge being lit up in blue along with many other landmarks all over the country.
