Libraries Week is an annual showcase and celebration of the best that libraries have to offer..and we are celebrating ours and the staff who make them so special – so keep an eye on @haltonlibraries on social media for some treats.

Halton Borough Council is doing a ‘Tour of Halton Libraries’ focussing on one of our libraries each day on Monday/Tuesday/ Wednesday and Thursday. and events all ages can join in with.

Libaries’ staff found some great old pictures of the Libraries. These are getting uploaded throughout the week – it’s great to see how our libraries have developed and changed over the years!

On Monday we promoted our Borrowbox and Press Reader Apps – We have 1000s of ebooks, eaudio and online newspapers and magazines to choose from, so there’s something for everyone.

We showed some of the new and bestselling titles that are on Borrowbox and the newspaper titles and magazines available on Pressreader.

Tuesday there wias be a Story Time with Richard reading ‘Our Kid’ by Tony Ross @ 11am.  There will also be a Lego Challenge

Wednesday saw a Midweek Craft with Rachel @ 2pm (Making mindfulness jars)

Thursday we  have a geek fest, with Science Club at 12noon followed by an online quiz at 1pm.

Friday – You meet the staff behind the books, with Staff Weekend Reads!

Staff will be sharing their favourite books for the weekend and new books they have read recently. #Haltonreads

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Libraries, Cllr Phil Harris, said: “Libraries Week celebrates the nation’s much-loved libraries and their vital role in the UK’s book culture.

“We will be showcasing  their reading offer and the contribution they make towards building a borough of readers!

“Encourage your community to sign up for a library card to discover a world of reading!”
