The nearside lane of the Liverpool-bound carriageway on the A562 Speke Road (over Hale Road bridge, Widnes) is currently closed until a temporary repair is completed on Thursday (August 1st).

The lane closure was put in for safety reasons following the discovery of a failed expansion joint on the Hale Road bridge.

It was initially planned to install a new bridge joint during overnight closures this Tuesday and Wednesday. Unfortunately this has had to be postponed, as some of the work is weather-sensitive.

As such, a temporary repair will be carried out on Thursday.  This will enable the lane closure to be removed.

The full joint replacement is now planned for the end of August.
