Are you a local volunteer group or individual who likes to make a difference to your area?
We are looking to support local groups or individuals who are already doing their bit by taking part in clean ups in their neighbourhood.
Funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the Welcome Back Fund Project has a limited number of resource packs available to help you coordinate your programme of litter picking activities.
The packs include litter pickers, handy hoop sack holders, gloves, hi-visibility vests and black sacks and you can apply for one from today.
How do I apply?
You can complete an application form online or request one via email at fpn@halton.gov.uk.
If you are unable to complete and submit online please contact a member of the Waste Management Team on 0151 511 7624.
What are the requirements?
The only requirement is that the equipment, all funded by the European Regional Development Fund, is used by local groups or individuals to participate in litter picking activities in their area.
Will my application be successful?
We aim to provide packs to each group or individual that applies, however as we only have a limited number available we would advise that you complete and return your application at the earliest convenience.
If we are unable to provide you with a pack one of our officers will contact you as we may be able to help you in other ways.
How do I pick up the equipment?
Once your application has been received and reviewed an officer will contact you to arrange collection. You will need to sign for receipt of the equipment and bring proof of identification.
What if I no longer wish to use the equipment?
If you or your group no longer require the equipment we would ask that you contact us to arrange for return of the items so that we can offer them out to others.
Neighbourhood Champions
We are also looking for Neighbourhood Champions to work with us to help make local areas cleaner and more attractive places to live.
Being a Neighbourhood Champion will involve;
- reporting any issues of concern
- identifying where there could be possible improvements
- organising community clean ups or litter pick events
- providing our team with feedback on any events you have carried out
The criteria to become a Neighbourhood Champion is that you;
- need to be a Halton resident
- must be over 18 years old
- should have an interest in improving your local area
- are able to commit time to the volunteer role
- are willing to work in partnership with Halton Borough Council and other agencies
If you are already part of a volunteer group and applying for our Litter Pick Resource Pack you can indicate on the application form if you would like to be a Neighbourhood Champion. However if you don’t wish to apply for this but are still interested you can email fpn@halton.gov.uk for further information.
