Halton Borough Council is launching a Books on Prescription collection for long term health conditions on Wednesday 5 July. at Kingsway Learning Centre Widnes (Room 11) between 2pm and 4pm, come along and see what we have to offer.

The National Reading Well Books on Prescription for long-term conditions scheme will be available in public libraries from July 2017.

The booklist of 28 titles provides adults living with long term conditions with advice, information and support on long-term conditions including; pain, fatigue, sleeping problems, and mental health and wellbeing.

It will also include condition-specific titles on; arthritis, bowel conditions (including Inflammatory bowel disease and Irritable bowel syndrome), breathing difficulties (including Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Asthma), Diabetes, Heart Disease (including Coronary Heart Disease, Angina, heart attack) and strokes.

The booklist also features a number of titles that cover general information and advice on living well with a long term condition and support for family and carers. The launch will be an informal drop-in session with refreshments available.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Libraries, Cllr Phil Harris, said: “This is great opportunity to see what we have to offer.”

There will be an opportunity to see all the books from the collection, pick up leaflets and see how the scheme could work for you. There will also be the chance to see the other Books on Prescription Collections.
