Haton’s Mayor will officially start a ‘Back to School’ themed Parkrun event in Victoria Park on Saturday 7 September, from 9am.
She will then volunteer as ‘tail walke’r for event along with some of her other volunteer team supporting Widnes Parkrun.
After the run has completed a team of volunteers will host a Mayor’s stand next to the bandstand in Victoria Park and members of the public can support with any donations towards the two charities, Let’s Go Stroke Club and Nightstop Communities Northwest.
Cllr Horobin said: “I am delighted to be officially starting the Parkrun. I look forward to welcoming all of those who are taking part today and give a special thank you to the volunteers that make Widnes Parkrun such a success.
“I’m proud that we have a FREE parkrun scheme in our Green Flag award winning Victoria Park that is volunteer led and encourages our local residents to become more active.
“I will be around at the end of the event by the band stand with some of my own volunteers to tell you about the two charities that I’m supporting this year, Let’s Go Stroke Club and Nightstop Communities Northwest, and would welcome any donations that you would like to make to our fund-raising efforts.”
