As she completed her time in office, the outgoing Mayor of Halton gave her charity fund a final push by walking 186 miles during the month of April.

Margaret Horabin walked between five and nine miles a day in aid of Nightstop Communities Northwest and the Let’s Go Stroke Club.

“I loved doing it – the walks were amazing, mostly urban routes around Widnes and Runcorn,” said Margaret.

“Friends walking with me made the whole experience enjoyable and the time has flown by. I would like to thank all those who have sponsored my walk and those who have taken lime to support Nightstop Northwest and the Let’s Go Stroke club as well as the fundraising committee.

“Two dear friends especially need a big thank you as a raffle we held recently brought in hundreds of pounds worth of support.

“I feel better for doing the walk and have lost 1.25 stone over the last month – so benefits all round really. I will definitely carry on with it.

“If you want to walk for health, our Active Halton can help, so look them up and take that first step to a healthier you.”
