Two local charities benefitted from fantastic fundraising efforts as the 2023-24 Mayoral year raised a terrific £20,000.

Child Bereavement UK and Widnes Fellowship Centre each received £10,000 following Cllr Val Hill and Cllr Stan Hill’s year in office.

A Child Bereavement UK spokesperson says: “We were so surprised and amazed to receive £10,000 from the Mayor.

“That amount of money is enough to support TEN families in Halton to receive a package of face-to-face support when a child dies or when a child grieves, for a minimum of 12 months.”

And Widnes Fellowship Centre are also delighted with the support: “We are a voluntary organisation and have been running for 70yrs. We provide a centre for people with special needs in a safe and friendly environment.

“We are most grateful to the Mayor and Consort for choosing our centre as one of their charities as this will enable us to continue our work creating many happy memories for our members.”
