Our ‘Dame’ for a laugh this year has been revealed as a versatile actor, manager and graphic designer, a veteran of countless pantos, productions and costume changes (oh yes he is!) And he was one of the most popular stars of last year’s panto Sleeping Beauty.

Robert Squire, who will don the wigs as Dame Dolly Doughnut in Beauty and the Beast, has worked with various companies over the years either as a member of the cast or as their technician.

He he was looking forward to working with the professional team at Polka Dot Pantomimes and Halton Borough Council again.

He said: “I can’t wait to start rehearsals. I had a great time last year and it will be great to see some of last year’s cast again.”

“I would like to thank my partner for putting up with the endless costume fittings, deliveries of makeup, shoes, jewellery, wigs and having the dresses hanging up around the house, especially after the run when the front room looks like Twankey’s Laundry!”

Robert’s pantomime credits along include: Abanazar & Widow Twankey – Aladdin (Christmas and Summer); Dame Trott – Jack and the Beanstalk; Fatima Kebab – Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves; Nurse Septic & Nurse Germolina – Sleeping Beauty; Mother Goose – Mother Goose; Dame Dolly Doughnut & Sarah the Cook – Dick Whittington; Ugly Sister’s Camilila & Bimbo – Cinderella; Dame Dottie Dolittle – Beauty and the Beast; Queen Penelope Peppertpot – Rapunzel (Easter) and Captain Filibuster in the Swashbuckling Summer Pantomime Pirates of the Pavilion (2015/16 & 17).

Other credits include: Eric Birling – An Inspector Calls; Ensemble – Our House the Madness Musical; Oberon – A Midsummer Nights Dream; Toad – Toad of Toad Hall and Mr Bumble – Oliver!

Scouse actor Charlie Griffiths was  be revealed as returning to the glittering cast, for the magical tale,

They will join actor model and former Miss British Isles Rebecca Lake and local theatre star, Andrew Curphey , in the Brindley production.

Beauty And The Beast, presented by Polka Dot Pantomines, runs from 10 December 2018 to 13 January 2019.
