Perimenopause and menopause can be a confusing time, and navigating this journey can be tricky. Dr Cath Munro is a British Menopause Society-accredited menopause specialist, and she will talk you through this journey, what to expect, how to prepare and how best to navigate your own journey.

While we often focus on the visible ones and those that immediately impact our lives such as fatigue, poor sleep and hot flushes, there are some other changes going on that don’t give us feedback signals to alert to their presence.  A silent transformation is happening in our skeletons.

In this informative and empowering talk retired orthopaedic surgeon and lecturer in bone health, Dr Angela White will explain why your bones are your most important long term investment. Debunking some common myths and explaining how your skeleton is constantly remodelling itself you’ll discover how you can start with small evidence-based changes that will make a world of difference to your future self. Learn some practical, actionable tactics for optimising your bone health now so you can continue to live a life of strength, independence and vitality for decades to come”

Angela White, MBChB, MRCS and member of CIMSPA is a retired doctor, orthopaedic surgeon and associate lecturer with a special interest in bone health and passionate about promoting healthy ageing. She is a Personal Trainer with a special interest in strength and rehabilitation for people with musculoskeletal injury and osteoporosis and developed and delivers Building Better Bones workshops.

Outside work, she is an endurance athlete, having started running aged 53. She has taken part in long distance running events from 50 to 190 miles, represented GB as an Age Group Multisport athlete and holds a Guinness World Record as the oldest female to run from John o’Groats to Land’s End, aged 60 years.

Diane’s writing empowers individuals and communities to recognise menopause as a significant life transition that deserves attention, respect, and care.

Tuesday, 28th October | 10:30 am – 11:30 am | Staying Healthy in Midlife | Renee McGregor & Dr Catherine Munro

Weight management can be really tricky in midlife. Finding sound and evidence-based advice about how to stay healthy through this time can be difficult with so much confusing information in the media.

Renee and Cath will talk about the way our bodies work and how what we eat influences our health, as well as cover evidence-based approaches to eating and exercising for a healthy body.
