Halton Borough Council and its partners are once again promoting National Adult Safeguarding week which takes place 16 – 22 November – but this year it will move onlline.

It aims to enable greater awareness of safeguarding adults to prevent abuse and neglect and help protect those members of our community who may be at risk of harm.

In the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, Safeguarding Awareness Week 2020 will be very different. All our communications, information, conversations and promotional material are online this year.

Halton Borough Council and partners will be using social media and our websites to highlight real and important safeguarding matters which affect communities and individuals across North Cheshire.

Adult Safeguarding Week aims to promote life free from abuse in any form for all those over 18. Abuse can come in many forms, from modern day slavery of those working in industries such a manufacturing or car wash scenarios, to monetary or sexual abuse, where people may be held against their will.

It’s a time we can all come together to discuss safeguarding.  We all have a right to a life that’s free from abuse.  So safeguarding is a responsibility that we all share.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Families, Councillor Tom McInerney, said “Everyone from all walks of life, should be aware of the role they can play in helping to prevent abuse.  We should all know how to spot the signs of abuse, and the actions we should take if we spot any signs.”

Look out for social media posts with the hashtag #safeguardingadultsweek linking how you can spot the signs of Abuse during the week 16 – 22nd November.

We will be signposting key themes during the week and highlighting issues via our social media sites.  Please visit us and be a part of the conversation:
