Widnes and Runcorn Markets are opening their doors to voluntary organisations for two weeks to mark this year’s Love Your Local Market fortnight – the national celebration of your favourite stalls and stallholders.
Charities and local wellbeing groups will be on hand from Wednesday 17 May to Wednesday 31 May to offer free advice to everyone, plus there will be opportunities to join groups you are interested in such as Halton Heritage or even find a job as a carer or through Halton People Into Jobs.
Halton Borough Council Market Manager Ian Goodall, said: “Widnes and Runcorn markets have been the cornerstone of trading in the towns for many years.
“Widnes, now in its 142nd year, celebrates the National campaign Love Your Local Market by opening it’s doors to many of the local voluntary organisations which make such a different in the area.
“Some will also attend Runcorn Outdoor Market on Tuesday.”
In addition during the fortnight charities and organisations will be offering advice on deafness, health awareness, foodbank access, cancer care and general healthcare will also be in attendance.

More and more people are turning to markets to ensure fresh foods from a known source, excellent customer service and also the value that markets offer.
In 2016 Widnes traders were subject to a mystery shop, where the majority of the stallholders got the gold standard for customer service and local knowledge.
