Exciting Improvements Coming to Runcorn Hill: Path Upgrade Works Begin This Week
These improvements mark an exciting step forward for Runcorn Hill, enhancing both its natural beauty and its accessibility for residents, families, and visitors.

Great news for visitors to Runcorn Hill, thanks to a generous £142,000 grant from the INEOS/Viridor Energy Fund, a series of improvements to the park’s path network will begin Wednesday 1 April 2026.

The project focuses on enhancing the pathways around the bandstand and tennis courts, creating a more welcoming, accessible, and environmentally friendly space for everyone to enjoy.

What’s Happening?

The upcoming works will;

  • Improve and rationalise existing paths, making routes clearer and more intuitive.
  • Boost accessibility and safety, ensuring smoother movement around the site all year round.
  • Protect the park’s mature trees by reducing root damage and creating a healthier growing environment.
  • Introduce new paths to enhance movement and connectivity across the park.
  • Create an improved setting for the historic bandstand, giving the area a refreshed and attractive layout.

To minimise disruption for park users, new pathways will be constructed first, with any redundant routes removed afterwards.

These improvements mark an exciting step forward for Runcorn Hill, enhancing both its natural beauty and its accessibility for residents, families, and visitors.
