The following roadworks starting from Friday 26th September will require road closures and temporary traffic signals that will affect the A558 and A56 in Runcorn.

  • Chester Road, from its junction with the A56 to Newton Lane – road closure from 7pm Friday 26th to 5am Monday 29th
  •  A56 southbound towards the motorway from Chester Road junction – road closure from 7pm Friday 26th to 5am Monday 29th
  •  A56 Northbound farm shop entrance – temporary two way signals each night from 7pm- 5am, Monday 29th to Wednesday 1st
  • A56 Northbound carriageway at A558 junction with Innovation Way – road closure 7pm Friday 3rd to 5am Monday 6th, including resurfacing of A558.

These works are necessary to carry out resurfacing on both the A558 and A56, and have been scheduled to minimise the impact on traffic during the weekday and to ensure that the road is safe for use during peak hours.

There will be a signed diversions to guide traffic and variable message signs in the area will warn drivers in advance.

Following the above works, the section of  A56 carriageway(south bound towards M56 Junction 11) from A558 junction to Keckwick Lane will be reconstructed starting on 6 October for 10 weeks. The traffic will use the northbound carriageway in contra flow for this period and the Pegasus Crossing will be closed with temporary pedestrian diversion.

Also, the new traffic signal junction at A56/Delph Lane/Chester Road will become operational during the first week of October.
