Romance, tragedy catchy tunes and great dancing. What isn’t there to love about opera?

Heritage Opera, Northwest England’s professional touring opera company, returns to Halton Borough Council’s The Brindley Theatre, Runcorn with Puccini’s Madame Butterfly flying in on Monday 15 October.

Madame Butterfly is the heartbreaking story of Cio Cio San, the Nagasaki geisha, and her unwavering belief that the husband she adores, Lieutenant BF Pinkerton of the United States Navy, who married then deserted her, will one day return.

Containing some of the most beautiful of Puccini’s music, including the famous aria Un Bel Di (‘One Fine Day’), and the moving Humming Chorus, the drama builds to its tragic conclusion.

Sarah Helsby Hughes plays the trusting Cio Cio San – ‘Madame Butterfly’, Nicholas Sales is the arrogant Pinkerton, and Serenna Wagner plays the faithful servant Suzuki. They are supported by a cast of seven professional singers, and accompanied by classical piano.

Tickets for this amazing event are £26, £24, £12 under 16s from www.thebrindley.org.uk and The Brindley box office on 0151 907 8360.
