The high-level footbridge in Runcorn Hill Park, which crosses the path leading to the Weston Road entrance on the west side of the park, is being replaced during November.

The original footbridge spans a break in the quarry sandstone at around six metres high and is in need of modernisation. The old structure will be replaced with a modern steel ‘beam and parapet’ bridge providing a route across the gap for years to come.

Work will start with the removal of the existing bridge and then the new one will be winched into position. Work is expected to take four weeks, during which time the paths next to and under the new bridge will be closed to the public.

Alternative routes are available and the Council will aim to minimise disruption for park users.
