From 8 January, northbound lane closures, controlled by temporary traffic lights will be in place on the Silver Jubilee Bridge as a major maintenance scheme gets underway.

This may result in short delays for drivers at times – we apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

The maintenance work includes painting to the steelwork below the main deck of the bridge and will involve the installation of access scaffold across the suspended span (over the river).

The working areas will be fully encapsulated to maintain a controlled working environment and minimise the noise and emissions associated with removal of the existing paint system.

The main contractor for the work is Balvac, who have undertaken many significant maintenance schemes on the Bridge for the Council.

The work is part of a capital programme funded by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, and is scheduled for completion in July.
