Halton Borough Council has announced a specially adapted and relaxed performance of Sleeping Beauty and a performance of the much loved pantomime with British Sign Language this festive season.
Designed to welcome in people with an autistic spectrum condition, learning disability or sensory and communication disorder, the relaxed performance aims to give those who otherwise might feel excluded the chance to experience live theatre.
The relaxed performance creates a welcoming, less formal atmosphere to help reduce anxiety levels. Some of the loud, bright elements will be reduced and strobe lighting and pyrotechnics will be removed.
Music levels will be minimised and there will be no sections of complete darkness. Audience members will be able to come and go as they please throughout the show.
The relaxed performance is on Sunday 7 January at 1pm.
For those people who want to experience the pantomime with British Sign Language, there is a performance on Friday 29 December at 5pm.
Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for The Brindley, Cllr Phil Harris, said: “This promises to be the most spectacular pantomime ever staged herewith spellbinding scenery, dazzling costumes and amazing special effects.”
Heading the cast is Crissy Rock, star of TV’s Benidorm and I’m A Celebrity as Fairy Nuff. Rebecca Lake, returns by popular request as Princess Aurora and local favourite Andrew Curphey is back as Chester the Jester.
Tickets are priced Children £16, Adults £22, Family Ticket £66 (2 adults, 2 children), Groups 20 plus £17, Schools £11 (One teacher in 15 goes free, no booking fee) from www.thebrindley.org.uk and the box office on 0151 907 8360.
