At Halton Borough Council and through our Family Hubs, we understand that the journey to parenthood can be exciting but also challenging — not just for mums, but for dads too. That’s why we’re committed to making sure fathers feel included, supported, and valued every step of the way.
Here’s how we support dads during the perinatal period (pregnancy and the first year after birth):
- Welcoming Spaces: Our Family Hubs offer a safe, inclusive space where dads can access support, ask questions, and meet other parents.
- Information and Advice: We provide helpful resources and advice tailored to dads on topics like preparing for birth, mental health, bonding with your baby, and managing new routines.
- One-to-One Support: Our team can offer direct support to fathers who may be struggling with their emotional wellbeing or who just need someone to talk to.
- Dad-Focused Activities: We run sessions specifically for dads and male carers, giving them the chance to build confidence, connect with their child, and share experiences with other fathers.
- Partnership Working: We work closely with a range of different partners and have commissioned Dad Matters and Parents in Mind to provide a comprehensive package of support https://www.haltonfamilyhubs.co.uk/adult-dads
We believe that when dads are supported, the whole family benefits. Whether you’re a first-time dad or growing your family, Halton Family Hubs are here to support you.
